87th Annual George Washington Dinner

 

The George Washington Dinner will be held Wednesday, February 24 at 6:00 pm. The dinner is open to the public and Ulster County Executive Michael Hein will be the guest speaker. Tickets are $30.00 single and $35.00 Patron. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be for sale at the door. Highlights of the George Washington Dinner at Old Dutch Church in Kingston, New York

 

In 1782, George Washington visited Kingston and was greeted by the Elders and the Domini of the Old Dutch Church. Following his visit, he wrote to the Church Consistory to thank them for their “public mark of esteem.” Since 1923, the Men’s Club of Old Dutch Church has commemorated this momentous visit with an annual dinner in his honor.

 

The George Washington Dinner program stresses the importance of God and country and it is a community tradition which attracts around 300 people every year. This evening of community fellowship will consist of group singing of patriotic songs led by Mr. Robert Gaus, a classic Roast Beef dinner with all of the fixings including cherry pie for dessert and an inspiring and thought provoking speech. Past keynote speakers include Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1932, Heywood Hale Broun in 1979 and Norman Vincent Peale in 1986.

 

The Men's Club of the Old Dutch Church

 

The Men’s Club of Old Dutch Church is committed to male fellowship and service to God and community. The Men’s Club gathers on a monthly basis to set the group agenda and plan upcoming events such as the Annual George Washington Dinner. Service projects include contributing to the ongoing Old Dutch Church Mission, sustaining our own community involvement and local outreach, soliciting donations for the Old Dutch Church Restoration Fund and helping to keep the church in good repair. The Men’s Club is open to all of the men of the church in order that we may grow together.
